What is the shortest amount of time I can rent a unit?
Our units are rented on a month-to-month basis. The minimum rental period is one calendar month.

Do you offer discounts?
For our customers with long term needs, we offer a 5% discount for 6 months prepaid rent and a 10% discount for 12 months prepaid rent. Please note that prepaid rent is non-refundable.

Do I get a padlock when I rent a unit?
You can purchase a new lock at our office or bring one with you. We offer a variety of sizes and types of locks and recommend purchasing a disc type padlock to ensure the highest level of security.

Do I give you a key to my padlock?
No, only you have the key(s) to your padlock.

Are there things I can't do in my storage unit?
Storage units are to be used for storage only. Units may not be used to conduct business, as a domicile or mailing address, as a work area to build or repair (this includes working on vehicles, crafts or hobbies, woodworking, etc.), for band practice or playing any type of musical instruments, or for any illegal activity.

Do you have electrical outlets in your units?
No, electricity is provided for lighting only.

Is there anything I can't store?
For obvious reasons, the following may not be stored:
  • Food of any type
  • Explosive or flammable items
  • Firearms or ammunition
  • Used tires or batteries
  • Items that give off toxic or noxious odor
  • Live animals or living things
  • Items that could leak or spill
  • Any illegal or stolen property

What are the hours I'm able to access my unit?
Gate hours are from 7:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. during the summer and 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. during the winter. Gate hours change with day light savings time. All tenants must be off the property by the close of gates. The entire project is closed on Christmas Day.

What if I forget my access code?
If you forget your access code, please come to the office with a valid photo I.D. For your protection, we don't give out access codes by phone.

Do you insure the items in my storage?
You must provide your own insurance protection. We are not agents so we do not sell insurance. Melrose Lane Storage Center is not liable for any loss or damage to your personal property. Please be aware that it is your responsibility to safeguard your personal property located in the unit from losses.

When is my rent due?
All rents are due in advance on the 1st day of each month. Rental payments may be made by mail or at the office. After normal office hours, the payment drop in the office door may be used. Please be sure to include the tenant name and unit number with your payment.

What if I'm late making my payment?
Your monthly rent is due on the 1st day of each month. There is a five-day grace period for paying your rent. At 9:00 A.M. on the morning of the 6th day of each month, a $15.00 late charge is assessed to all past due accounts. Late fees cannot be waived and the full balance must be paid immediately to avoid foreclosure. No partial payments are accepted. Please note that you are denied access to your unit, your gate code is deactivated, and your unit is over-locked until your account is paid in full. If your payment is late, it could be up to 24 hours before the over-lock is removed from your unit.

What is your policy regarding NSF checks?
There is a $25.00 charge for each returned check. We do not deposit them a second time. They must be made good with cash, money order, or certified funds. Once you have had 2 returned checks, you must pay by cash or money order through the remainder of your rental period.

What do I need to do when I'm ready to move out?
When you wish to vacate your storage unit, please notify the manager in writing 30 days in advance. By (or before) the last day of the month, remove ALL of your belongings & your padlock, leave the unit clean, swept and in rent-able condition. Please note that there are NO REFUNDS for unused days of the current month or unused months of discounted or pre-paid rent.

Can I use the dumpster to dispose of unwanted items?
If you want to use the dumpster to dispose of unwanted items, please see management first. A $75.00 disposal fee is required.
